Regardless of how you might feel about testing, can we all agree that when a state’s Board of Education has to reduce the number of points needed for schoolchildren to advance to the next grade in order to pass enough kids, that the kids probably aren’t learning much during the school year?
I agree. Sad, but true.
Very sad, both for the children and that as a society it’s not considered important for a child to enjoy and be good at math and reading. How are kids supposed to do well at the next grade if they only understood half of what was taught in the previous grade? How many grades can a child move through like this before they simply give up? What then is point of schools anyway, if it’s not to educate in reading and math and the related subjects?
I think many kids give up, Lily. That’s why homeschooling is still growing, don’t you think?
Thanks for stopping by, ladies 🙂
It is sad in what society thinks the solution is and very scary that that is all we expect out of our children.
